Emily is a lawyer and the Director of Research and Partnerships at Dallas Baptist University’s K. Randel Everett Center for Global Religious Freedom where she serves as the LaJuan and Garlyn Shelton Fellow for Religious Freedom. A former Fulbright student scholar to Ecuador and legal assistant to both CEJIL and Provea where she focused on matters in Venezuela, she has experience promoting human rights throughout Latin America and engaging the Inter-American System. Emily received her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and degrees in Political Science and Spanish from Eastern University. She is an avid reader and writer of poetry and is especially drawn to the moral and poetic imagination and the ways they illuminate faith in Christ.
